The AL Sport Piston Filler fountain pen is the version pen enthusiasts have been waiting decades for — Kaweco's legendary compact silhouette, built in matte anodized aluminum, with a true integrated piston filling mechanism that draws ink straight from the bottle. No cartridges. No converters. 

This isn't a retrofit. Kaweco spent years developing this model, drawing directly from the heritage of the original 1937 #612 piston filler Sport while incorporating modern materials and manufacturing. The result is a pen that feels substantial in the hand without being heavy, with a silky matte black aluminum body accented by gold-plated trim and a gold-plated stainless steel nib. An integrated clip — borrowed from Kaweco's Art Sport and former Luxe lines — is built right into the cap, and can be unscrewed and removed if you prefer the clean, clipless look.

A blind cap at the barrel end unscrews to reveal the piston knob, and a large ink window above the grip section lets you monitor your ink level at a glance. The piston mechanism is exceptionally smooth, and many writers note that the more consistent ink delivery from a piston filler makes the nib feel noticeably smoother than a cartridge-fed Sport.

This Starter Set includes the pen and a 32ml bottle of Kaweco Royal Blue ink, all presented in a distinctive round metal tin — ready to write out of the box.
